Hi Ryan, It's Lisa (Laura's cousin). Mike just read a book called Wild At Heart and it changed him for the better. You have probably heard of it and maybe have read it but he has been telling everyone about it. It was that good.

The book "invites men to recover their masculine heart, defined in the image of a passionate God."

I am going to read it next as it says that it invites women to discover "the secret of a man's soul and to delight in the strength and wildness men were created to offer."

oh man....not sure if you expected your sister in law to read this one...but i did.

I don't think I EVER want to see a "fleshy ryan emerging" in my life...EVER! hahahahah.
that word "fleshy" is doing all sorts of crazy things to my nerves (you know how i am).

ANYWAY... wow! You were a pirate! Thats so awesome of you! I keep on forgeting that you had pre-Laura days.

RJB...as a read, all i could see is how normal you are.
I know you already know this all, but maybe a reminder is needed ...
" being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion untill the day of Christ Jesus" Phillippians 1:6

love ya brother

This is good for me to read because I can identify with nearly every word. (I never wore a pirate patch or had a quarter inch splinter in my eye.)
I think one of the hardest things for leaders to do is to follow. It all starts with humility and I often have to go back to Phillipians 2 and the example of Christ emptying himself and taking on the life of a servant.

It's a lesson I continue to try to learn.

WOW! I honestly do stand utterly amazed sometimes that I get to call each of you a friend! The battle is fierce, but with steady men by your side, the force to fight is even fiercer!

Hey BUD! Way to back up the truck and DUMP! Good to see that you learned to drive a stick with airbrakes! HA! Seriously... I saw a word picture... that of the elephant who was tethered as a baby... and fought until blood and pain against the bond on its foot. Now... as a massive packaderm... capable of uprooting trees, cars...trucks... sucumbs to the hiss of a lie. A phantom... given power only in a world of darkness that like death is called a shadow by the tree covered with lambs blood. Arise oh Man of God... be made (not self made but fashioned) into the godly man. Suddenly find yourself God's MAN for the hour when Middle Earth hangs in the balance.

Aragorn: "Hold your ground men of Gondor... Men of Rohan! My Brothers... MY BROTHERS I see in your eyes ... the same fear that would take teh heart of me.

A day may come.. when the courage of men will fail... we we forsake our friends... and break all bonds of fellowship. BUT it is NOT THIS DAY!

An hour of wolves and shattered sheilds, when the age of men comes crashing down... BUT it is NOT THIS DAY!

THIS DAY.... we fight... by all that you hold dear on THIS good earth...

I bid you STAND men of the West!

Ryan (Kingly One so intended to be...who is a pauper by the shadoe of lies alone - Break free now.)
In the Name of the Rider upon the white horse.
One whose vestments are dipped in blood.
Let it be.

Thanks for sharing your heart, Ryan. You never know who God is going to use to speak a word of truth in your life. One lesson He had to teach me (the hard way) was that it was not for me to shut others' voices out of my life. That was His job. It was not easy for me to move from a place of comfort (I controlled who I "allowed" to speak into my life) to a place of trusting God to reveal truth through whomever He wished. But I have experienced a freedom that I didn't have before. I've relapsed at times, but God has been faithful in reminding me that He is my protector, provider, and teacher - and I must submit to His control in my life and not apply my own wisdom/understanding in my own strength.

It's a good place to be in - and I encourage you to follow through with your commitment to be more teachable and to exhibit a holy humility. It's a great way to live!!
